Meet Cheryl Macarthy & Dave Jorgenson

Meet Cheryl Macarthy & Dave Jorgenson

Since 2007, Cheryl and Dave have been happily operating Frog on the Bog. They knew they wanted to live in Wells and recognized the need to create their own work. "You can be wildly creative in a small town," said Cheryl, "there isn't a model to follow and you have to, or get to, make things up". Cheryl and Dave originally came to Wells because of Island Mountain Arts and fell so in love with the landscape they decided to stay. They both enjoy their town's cohesive architecture, connection to the natural environment, the quiet, the artistic flair, the excitement, the seasonal ebb and flow between the business of summer and the long quiet stretches of winter.

Cheryl is pleased to see the youthful energy in the local business community. They praise The Bread Peddler, the Amazing Space Gallery as well as the Bear's Paw Cafe, Island Mountain Arts, Sunset Theatre, Whitegold Adventures and Mountain Thyme Getaway. The passionate people of Wells have saved their school, the local gas station, the historic site of Barkerville, their community radio station and become a municipality - all of these things have given the community the infrastructure that allows the next generation to create businesses. Cheryl is thankful for the ongoing revival of her small town and appreciates the local commerce and how the business community looks after one another. "We built a supportive network of businesses so we could share all that we have with people, not just have them pass through," said Cheryl.
